By Richard Potts, Assistant Director of the Washington Journalism Center
These days it's just impossible to be cool without having a blog -- probably a MySpace page, too. But since we've only got time for one, we're sticking with a blog for the Washington Journalism Center.
Now, this blog is supposed to do more than just clear out the space between our ears. Its job is to be the virtual hub of the program. This blog will also be topical and content driven. Some of the content will be done for a grade and some will just be spontaneous. But together we'll create a semester-long conversation out of interesting and relevant articles, comments, and the odd deep thought or two.
Since you'll be Out There in the city most of the time, going and doing, this is one place you can always find out about what's coming up next, what program events you're late for, and what assigments you've forgotten to do, etc.
So if we think of the rest of WJC as "hard news," well then this is our editorial page. First person is welcome here.
But posts have to be program related. No random reflections on girlfriends or pet fish, unless there's a program hook!
And, yes, the blog will be moderated. But the rules are pretty simple: no nudity, no profanity, no violence.
It'll be fun. So let's get started!
